'Twas the Zach before Christmas...

Here's some new pics of our little tyke. They are in date order, starting with Nov 15 to Dec 10.

Zach has been doing a bit better since we came home from California. He's actually started taking real naps during the day. Of course, his body isn't used to this and we are learning how much is too much for his naping schedule. He's been taking naps, but then he wakes up at night. It seems that he will go back and forth between too much sleep during the day to not enough. Yesterday was pretty nice, though - napped for about 30 minutes in the morning, 2 hours in the afternoon, and we put him to bed at 7. He woke up 40 minutes later, so we fed him and changed him and by 8:50 he was asleep in his crib. He didn't wake up 'till 7:45 this morning. It was nice to have a full night's sleep! He's also learning to fall asleep by himself, not having one of us hold him. Which is nice because then I can actually take a nap with him on the bed. We read a few pages of Harry Potter and he's usually out. It's just super critical to get him down at the right time - not too awake, not too tired. The other day he was asleep after only 8 minutes of laying down - without a binky to boot. We're trying to keep him on a pretty regular schedule of naptimes, to make it easier.

He's been congested lately and a trip to the doctor told us he probably has his first cold. He does not like the saline nasal drops, that's for sure.

Well, that's about all for now. We're trying to finish with our tree (we finally have some lights on it) and save up for our wii. But right now it's bedtime - when Zach goes to sleep, we soon follow.

He just looks like he has a lot of attitude in this one - yep, definitely our child :)

Zachary is a squirmy one, and he's pretty strong when he kicks off of you.

I love his Bazooka Joe shirt - and he's almost too big for it!

He really is just the cutest kid ever.

Naked!!

When he wants to pout, he can have a pretty big bottom lip. This is only a little one here.

And then he's happy again! He'll go back and forth pretty fast. He's manic depressive.

He doesn't usually fall asleep on me anymore, but he was just too cute!

We have to keep a rag handy because he spits ALL the time. It'll just run down his face. And it's not even just accidental spit now - he'll actually spit and make noises with it. Jason put it on his head to keep him warm, and he thought that was pretty funny - I have several pictures of him smiling. He looks like a Jedi...or a flying nun.

Zachary is now learning how to take naps by himself. I lay next to him sometimes to show him how to do it and close my eyes. He unfortunately takes a binky most of the time, but if we catch him at the right time he won't need it. He's entering that phase where he wants to put everything he grabs in his mouth, so I figure a binky is better than his hand. He'll start to suck on his hand and fall asleep, but because it's not a tight seal it will make noise when he sucks - and wake him up.

He knows how cute he is.

Even infants have a fake smile. This one makes him look like he is ready to be done taking pictures.

This is him in his new bouncer that Uncle Paul and Aunt Maggie bought him.

It's hard to get a good picture like this because when he smiles and laughs so much in the bouncer, he always kicks his feet too, which makes the whole thing move, making for many blurry pictures. Of course, then he wouldn't smile pretty like this again so I could get it with normal coloring.

He LOVES his new bouncer. But he's already figured it out! There's a feature where the music only comes on and the stuff only moves after the monkey or the bird that hang down have been moved. What he'll do is grab the ring on the monkey, pull it and then wait for the stuff to stop. Then he'll just give it a little tug to make it go off again. Sometimes his movements don't trigger the music, and he'll look up in anticipation, then give it a bigger tug. He really is a smart little fellow.

All snuggled up!
